As you know, last year Congress directed NOAA to review its organization
of research, OAR in particular. To do that, NOAA asked its Science
Advisory Board to establish a Research Review Team. The team conducted
dozens of in-person meetings, scores of conference calls, and untold
numbers of e-mails, gathering information upon which to make
recommendations to enhance research in NOAA.
The draft report of the NOAA Research Review Team is now available for
public comment. The report and instructions for commenting on the
report can be found at:

Comments can be made until June 25. The Review Team will present the
draft to the Science Advisory Board in July.
I am very proud of your help in providing input and responding to the
many data requests of the team. It was done with grace and
professionalism. For this, I sincerely thank you, as does the Research
Review Team. Without your help and suggestions, the team could not have
accomplished its mission. I look forward to your continued cooperation
as we move forward to improve the effectiveness of OAR and research in
NOAA broadly.
