Folks returning from dive trips to the Solomon Islands have reported extensive damage to corals due to heat stress. Apparently the effect is very widespread. I cannot confirm this from first-hand observation but the reports come from people who have been there "before" and "after" so I consider them highly reliable. Bruce Carlson Waikiki Aquarium
