john,

i sat next to him at dinner in the "French Club"
in London. I was more innocent in the 60's.

I said "Dr. Costeau, you have done a great
service in providing the means for us to SEE
underwater."

Now, please give us the means to HEAR
underwater!

He went into a 90-second trance and then
emerged with a vigorous shake of the head
 to say only one word -- NON!

I think in that short time he calculated the
needs, the risks, and the costs! Amazing.
