Dear coral-listers:

This notice is to report the presence of several Diploria strigosa, and a
few Montastrea annularis, colonies showing sings of White Plague type II in
Puerto Morelos Reef, Mexican Caribbean. Affected colonies were first
observed by the end of June 2001 and their numbers are apparently increasing.

No other species have been observed affected by this disease in the
area. Some infected colonies are being tagged in order to follow the
progression of the disease.
