[Coral-List] Mysterious Zooanthid

Could anybody help with the identification of this Zooanthid. I believe it is Palythoa caribaeorum. They are abundant in Akumal Bay (Yucatan, Mexico) where we come across them in the form of numerous small mats, mainly on sandy bottoms.
Could its abundant presence in the Bay be correlated to reef health (reef degradation in Akumal's case !).
