March 26, 2004, is the deadline for receipt of applications for the
advanced course
Diseases of Corals and Other Reef Organisms
10-18 July, 2004
Mote Marine Laboratory's Center for Tropical Research

Robert Jonas, Ph.D., George Mason University
The course is open to professionals, graduate students, and advanced
undergraduates interested in learning about reef pathobiology and gaining
experience with relevant field and laboratory techniques.

SCUBA certification is required for diving; however, snorkeling is fine.
Mote is an Organizational Member of AAUS, and all divers must meet Mote
Marine Laboratorys standards for "Temporary Diver" clearance. If you are
interested in obtaining advanced diver certification training during and
immediately after the course (additional charge), please contact Dr. Peters
(epeters2 at gmu.edu).
Mote Marine Laboratory does not offer credit, however, it may be possible
to arrange credit through your home institution for directed studies,
research courses, etc. Consult your faculty advisor. It is also possible to
obtain 3 credit hours from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. For
information on credit requirements, contact Dr. Peters and contact Dr.
Jonas (rjonas at gmu.edu) concerning registration procedures and tuition fees.
Costs: The course fee of $1,260.00 US includes all course materials,
accommodations, meals (dinner, 7/10 through breakfast on 7/18), SCUBA costs
and weights. Participants should provide mask, snorkel, fins, regulator,
BCD and weight belt (rentals can be arranged if required).
26 March, 2004 - Application receipt deadline
16 April, 2004 - Email notification of acceptance and packets mailed
out
7 May, 2004 - Deposit ($300.00) receipt date
11 June, 2004 - Last day to withdraw with deposit refund
- Balance and dive forms due
10 July, 2004 - Course starts
