The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is currently interviewing for two
positions: Program Manager and Education Coordinator and Trainer. Both
are full-time jobs based out of our San Francisco office. Please see

CORAL Job Description
Position: Program Manager
Reports to: Program Director
Overview
The Program Manager is responsible for helping to develop, fund and
carry out The Coral Reef Alliance’s (CORAL’s) efforts to improve
business practices of the marine recreation sector, build alliances
between the tourism sector and resource managers, and help build
capacity of existing coral reef parks and to support the creation of
new, sustainable coral reef parks throughout the Indo-Pacific. The
manager’s primary responsibilities will be developing, managing and
implementing training of marine recreation providers and park staff,
technical assistance coordination, and integrating training and
technical assistance into other program elements. The manager will
work cooperatively with the Program Director, and program staff to
create an integrated strategy for achieving CORAL’s mission.
CORAL is dedicated to protecting the health of coral reefs by
integrating ecosystem management, sustainable tourism, and community
partnerships.
CORAL:
• works with communities to identify and solve conservation challenges
• changes attitudes and behavior through education and training
• provides resources to strengthen conservation efforts
• creates incentives for sustainable tourism
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management and Coordination
• Ability to set program goals and manage projects, budgets, schedules,
negotiate contracts and complete projects on time.
• Design programs and evaluation systems with the team and individually
on CORAL programs
• Write grants and reports to support program initiatives
Curriculum Development and Training
• Plan and facilitate the delivery of training programs for the marine
recreation sector and park managers In the Indo-Pacific.
• Communicate effectively in English.
Technical Support
• Provide technical assistance, expertise and training to MPA managers,
private sector partners and other stakeholders new on topics such as
mooring installation, user fee systems, diver carrying capacity.
• Ensure adequate follow up and support to parks where CORAL has
provided assistance.
Teamwork
Effective and supportive team member by participating in staff and
program team meetings, setting of team goals and milestones, and update
team on progress of work. Participates in other projects as necessary
to facilitate fulfillment of team goals.
Qualifications
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Desire and ability to travel internationally 25-50% time
• Strong project management skills
• Grant and report writing experience for foundations and government
agencies
• 5+ years experience marine conservation and conservation project
management
• Demonstrated management and training skills
• Experience in working cooperatively with tourists, the marine
recreation sector, park managers and government officials
• Additional knowledge on alternative livelihood development, carrying
capacity studies, and developing MPA management plans is desirable
• Graduate degree in related field preferred
• Commitment to CORAL’s mission
• Knowledge of another language such as Japanese, Fijian or Mandarin
highly desirable
• Scuba diving and/or snorkeling experience
