POSITION:  Marine Lab Manager
LOCATION:  Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Maldives
SALARY:    US$1,000 (+ service charge)

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 
•	Minimum BSc in marine science subject 
(postgraduate qualifications in relevant 
subjects preferred)
•	Academic publications in leading 
journals
•	Age (around 30+)
Additional: 
•	Candidate should be well presented 
with no visible tattoos, with excellent 
English communication skills (written and 
spoken) and preferably speak more than one 
language fluently (European or Asian)

Job Description:
Working within a high-end resort environment 
you will maintain and develop the on-site 
Marine Laboratory research and conservation 
programmes. The lab’s current work includes 
turtle, coral, shark and erosion research and 
is linked with WWF, WCS, National University 
of Singapore, Reefquest and Biorock. The role 
includes, but is not limited to:  

A.	Project Management
Existing Projects: 
i.	Maintenance and recording of current 
projects
ii.	Accordingly develop and expand the 
nature and scope of the projects
iii.	Documentation and future publication 
of projects’ progress
Future Projects: 
i.	Investigation of future initiatives
ii.	Proposal submission and viability 
studies 
iii.	Practical coordination of project 
initiation
iv.	Documentation of project history
B.    Human Resources
Education:
i.	Communication of Marine Lab & Resort 
Ethos; of Basic Marine Biology and Relative 
Environmental Conservation needs to
ii.	Resort Guests and visiting 
Schoolchildren through regular Marine Biology 
Classes and Field trips, respectively
iii.	External Resort Staff in order to 
expand Consciousness/Awareness
Training:
Of Marine Lab staff regarding
i.	increasing relevant knowledge through 
internal lessons
ii.	acquire necessary Project Management 
skills such as data collection and analysis 
iii.	the framework for initiating 
sustainable projects
iv.	education of other groups as mentioned 
above
C.    Information Dissemination
Resort Level:
i.	Communicating Marine Lab Activities to 
Resort Guests through regular newsletters and 
articles that are circulated in all properties 
Corporate Level:
i.	Communication of Marine Lab Activities 
to the rest of the group such that internal 
information is complete and the Marine Lab can 
be promoted in all sectors of the company
Public Level:
i.	Communication of Marine Lab Activities 
to the public through press releases and 
articles that can be fed through the corporate 
PR network
D.    Communication Networking
Scientific Community:
i.	To increase the Marine Lab position by 
liaising and inviting relevant scientific 
individuals or groups to the Lab for 
research/project initiation
Social Community:
i.	Expanding awareness of the Marine Lab 
and communicating Environmental consciousness 
in the host country by establishing links with 
schools etc. to conduct workshops/lessons, 
organize activities/compe
