Centennial Celebration of the Carnegie Laboratory for Marine Biology in
the Dry Tortugas (1905-1939); October 13-15, 2005, Key West, Florida.
Field Trip to the Dry Tortugas and the site of the Laboratory;
Symposium on the Past, Present and Future of Research in the Tortugas at
the DoubleTree Grand Resort, Key West.

The Foundations of tropical marine science with emphasis on coral reefs
and associated habitats were established at this Laboratory some 65 miles
west of Key West Florida. A major purpose of the Centennial is
to inform and inspire this audience through a personal visit to the site
of the Laboratory and an interactive learning Symposium in Key West.

The modest Registration Fee of $450 includes the all-day Field Trip to the
Tortugas with stops at Loggerhead Key (Laboratory site) and Fort
Jefferson, the huge 19th century brick fort; breakfasts, lunches and
breaks during the Field Trip and two-day Symposium and a gala Reception in
the historic San Carlos Museum.

Limited financial aid is available for students (junior/senior
undergraduates and graduate students) and teachers (high school and
college teachers early in their careers).
