Dear Colleagues:
 
You are cordially invited to participate in the 9th Virgin Islands Nonpoint Source Pollution Conference rescheduled for November 28-30, 2005 at the Westin St. John Resort & Villas, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. This year's conference theme is "Preventing Pollution in the Caribbean: Reshaping Our Communities for the Future."
 
The online Call for Presentations form (http://usvircd.org/NPS/NPSCFP2005.htm) may be used to submit abstracts to present information on implementing and/or adapting environmentally-friendly practices to reduce or prevent pollution of terrestrial and marine environments in the Caribbean region. Topics of particular interest include: 

   Watershed Management (TMDLs, Characterization, Planning / Protection, Permitting, etc.)

   Coastal Management (Marinas, Recreational Boating, Marine Parks / Protected Areas, Planning / Protection, Permitting,etc.) 
   Government Initiatives (Model Ordinances, Land Preservation Mechanisms, Riparian / Watershed / Wetland Restoration, etc.) 
   Low-Impact Development / Best Management Practices (Sediment & Erosion Control, Stormwater Control, Alternative OSDS, Better Site Design, etc.) 
   Land Use / Island Planning (Smart Growth, Development Impacts on the Environment, Innovative Municipal Wastewater Treatment, Critical Area Protection (guts, wetlands, etc.) 
   NPS Education & Outreach (Youth Education, Adult Education & Outreach, Success Stories / Impact Evaluation, etc.)
Abstract proposals for training seminars, oral and poster presentations  and product & information exhibits will be accepted by the Conference Planning Committee until August 1, 2005. The program subcomittee will review all abstract submissions, select presenters, and send out acceptance notifications to all authors by September 2, 2005 regarding abstract acceptance for presentation. All accepted abstract titles will be included in the Conference Program to be posted to the VI NPS Pollution Conference website in March for viewing by conference participants and others.
