The Applied Ecology and Restoration Branch of the Center for Coastal 
Fisheries and Habitat Research in Beaufort, NC is soliciting candidates 
for a National Research Council (NRC) Post Doctoral Research Associate 
position. A general description of the research opportunity, NRC program

The specific focus of the Associate’s research proposal should be 
directed at disturbance ecology of coastal marine ecosystems to include 
seagrasses and coral reefs as well as potential interactions between 
these systems with regard to disturbance and recovery dynamics. The 
applicant’s proposal will be integrated into existing research programs 
examining responses of a wide range of coastal benthic communities in 
the tropical Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, temperate Atlantic and eastern 
Pacific. While developing a proposal the applicants are encouraged to 
contact the Center’s NRC Research Advisor, Dr. W. Judson Kenworthy

to discuss current research programs, available facilities and 
equipment, and pending scientific support. Applications are due to NRC 
no later than November 1, 2005.
