Centro Ecológico Akumal (CEA) is currently recruiting volunteers for its Marine & Coastal Protection Program. CEA is an environmental conservation organization based in Akumal, Mexico, where it runs a wide range of programs aimed at studying and protecting the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System from the effects of unsustainable development.

We are launching our Marine and Coastal Protection Program in mid June and are recruiting volunteers over the following training periods:

  (1) 22nd May-22nd July 2006
  (2) 7th Aug -6th Nov 2006
  (3) 13th Nov-12th Feb 2006

The volunteers receive training in coral, fish, algae and water quality monitoring. There are also involved in our coral reef restoration project, coral reef bleaching monitoring, environmental education events, juvenile fish, coral and lobster monitoring and can attend regional and international workshops held at the Center.
