DHI Water & Environment Singapore is an established research and
consultancy company specialising in water and the environment. Our
operations include coastal, reclamation works and associated
hydrographic and marine habitat surveys. DHI has vast experience in the
region for shoreline management, environmental impact assessments and
monitoring programs.
Intern (Biology)
Pre-requisite: 
*         Final year of undergraduate studies, recent graduates 
*         Strong academic track record 
*         Demonstrate good understanding of marine habitat and survey
methodology 
*         Experience in marine habitat monitoring will be an advantage 
*         Self-motivated team player with good communication and people
skills 
*         Able to multi-task 
*         Singapore citizen or PR 
*         No prior working experience is necessary 
 
Time Commitment: 
Continuous period of 2 months 
7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week 

Highlights: 
During the internship program, interns will work closely with a mentor
on environmental management projects in Singapore. Interns will be
provided with training on species identification (where relevant),
survey techniques and data analysis. 

Interns can expect to be provided with opportunities to conduct field
surveys around Singapore. Dive certified interns will primarily assist
in underwater survey of coral reefs. Interns that are not dive certified
will be given opportunities to assist in other habitat assessment
surveys (mangroves, seagrass, intertidal, mudflats), as well as water
quality and other surveys around Singapore. Interns will also be
provided opportunities for data analysis and GIS mapping. 

Interns are encouraged to implement individual projects related to their
areas of interest. At the end of the internship, interns will be
required to submit a project report and / or make a presentation to a
management panel. Interns who have demonstrated good performance will be
considered for emplacement upon completion of the internship. 

Certificate Required: 
Interns who are interested in reef surveys are expected to be certified
in advanced Open Water SCUBA, and demonstrate that they are current on
their diving skills.
