Project Manager - VI-EPSCoR BCCR Projet
Professional Staff
St. Thomas Campus

 

JOB TITLE:  Project Manager
JOB CODE NUMBER:  121097

DEPARTMENT:  Center for Marine and Environmental Studies (CMES)

 

ASSIGNMENT:  The successful candidate will manage various aspects of the
Bio-complexity of Caribbean Coral Reefs (BCCR) research thrust; support
the Principle Investigator (PI) in BCCR grant administration; assist the
PI in facilitating research, outreach, and infrastructure improvement
activities; track BCCR budgets and expenditures; arrange all aspects of
travel; and manage the equipment and facilities maintenance.  The
candidate will develop outreach publications and coordinate outreach
events; provide administrative support for BCCR Advisory Board meetings
and the VI-EPSCoR Annual Conference; participate in various research
projects as needed; and perform other related duties as assigned by
supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

*	Master's degree in Biological Sciences or related field with
experience in research and project management;
*	Experience with project budgeting and grant administration is
highly desirable;
*	Experience in facilities management is essential;
*	Excellent communication and computer skills;
*	Must be well organized and detail oriented;
*	Must have a high degree of motivation and maturity;
*	Must be able to serve a cross-cultural public constituency.

COMPENSATION:  The salary for this position is $37,668 to $41,188 for
the administrative year, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Benefits include the liberal TIAA-CREF or the Virgin Islands Government
Retirement Plan, and a comprehensive group medical, dental, and life
insurance program.

 

TRAVEL AND SHIPPING:  If applicable, economy jet fare to St. Thomas for
appointee and immediate family and shipping allowance of up to $1,250
will be paid by the University upon presentation of receipts.

JOB TITLE:  Extension Specialist II
JOB CODE NUMBER:  120644

DEPARTMENT:  Center for Marine and Environmental Studies
                         (CMES)

ASSIGNMENT:  The successful candidate will work as the primary agent for
the Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service covering the St. Thomas, St.
John, and Water Island area.  The candidate will be responsible for
developing a comprehensive outreach and environmental education program
addressing marine habitat conservation and the impact of human
activities on marine environments; including non-point source pollution
on coastal resources and the importance of marine protection areas for
the sustainability of fishery resources.  He/she will interact with
local fishermen, teachers, students within the public school system, and
the community; complete administrative tasks; and perform other related
duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Master's of Science degree in marine science or related field or
Bachelor's of Science degree with two (2) years experience;
*	Two (s) years experience related to public outreach and
environmental education;
*	Working knowledge of Caribbean marine habitats and associated
organisms preferred;
*	Proficiency int he use of word processing and data processing
computer applications;
*	Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational,
analytical and problem-solving skills;
*	Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others.

COMPENSATION:  The salary for this position is $32,457 to $38,807 for
the administrative year depending on experience and qualifications.
Benefits include two retirement plans and a group medical, dental, and
life insurance program.
