  Given that certain coral species (genetics)  and certain coral reefs (location, upwelling, UV penetration, wave action and incidence, etc.) are hypothesized to respond differently to the same stressors, and differently to variable amounts of the same stressors, do you not think it is at all wise to test such a hypothesis in order to determine if some local management action can be applied?  Throughout the scientific literature (coral reef and otherwise), I have seen large amounts of funding applied to answer questions that seem much less management relevant...
