APAI Scholarship - Responses of Coral Reef Ecosystem to Climate Change

The Role: The successful appointee will undertake a PhD study to develop
new tools to enhance our understanding of how coral reef ecosystems
respond to climate change. The PhD project will form part of a large
ARC/NOAA funded research program using multi-disciplinary, multi-scale
approach to deliver management outcomes for the southern Great Barrier
Reef. Preferably the Study should integrate satellite oceanography with
physiological and ecological reef processes. The applicant will be
supervised jointly by researchers in the fields of satellite
oceanography and coral reef ecology.

The Person: The successful candidate will hold an Honours of Masters
degree in marine science or a related discipline. The successful
candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of remote sensing and/or
satellite oceanography, well-developed skills in quantitative marine
ecology, good understanding of the biology of coral reef organisms and
basic computer programming skills. This scholarship is available to
Australian and New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only.

Remuneration: This is a full-time, 3-year scholarship. The value of the
scholarship is $25,118 (per annum). This scholarship will be paid
fortnightly (tax free) for the period of the 3 years.
