Hi Listers:
There is one openning remaining for a female student (because of housing arrangements) in "BIO 585: RESEARCH METHODS IN CORAL REEF AND ADJACENT ECOSYSTEMS", a field course UNC Wilmington is offering during the spring of 2007. This is a 6 credit graduate course open to seniors who have taken the course requirements (ecology, physiology, and introductory marine biology or oceanography), with a 3.0 or better GPA and who are a certified scuba diver with 12 + dives. 6 additional undergraduate credits in Field Biology are available to undergraduate students who need 12 credits for full enrollment. 10 weeks of the semester will be spent doing field research in Curacao. Three weeks at the beginning of the semester plus three at the end will be taught at the UNCW campus. More information on the course are available on my web page below. The cost of the course is $5000, plus UNCW tuition (we have special rates for non-UNCW out-of state students), plus food, personal expenses and incidentals. You are responsible for housing arrangements for the 6 weeks on campus at UNCW, although assistance will be provided in finding reasonably priced lodging near the UNCW campus.
For more information, please contact Dr. Alina Szmant by email or on her cell phone (910)200-3913.
