The WorldFish Center, located on the island of Penang, Malaysia, is a
world-class scientific research organization.  Our mission is to reduce
poverty and hunger by improving fisheries and aquaculture.  We have
offices in eleven countries and engage in collaborative research with
our partners in more than 50 countries. The Center is a nonprofit
organization and a member of the Consultative Group on International
Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

world. You could be one of the highly competent and motivated individual
to fill the following position:

 

 

RESEARCH ANALYST

 

 

Responsibilities:

*    Maintain a data entry work plan to prioritize and execute entry of
references, photos, bleaching observation, and other information into
ReefBase; 

*    Initiate and conduct compilation and analysis of research data,
prepare data summaries, and write reports/articles, under broad
supervision by Project Leader;

*    Provide input/suggestions on data contents and functionality of
ReefBase database and website, as requested or by own initiative; and

*    Assist in project organization and implementation including
research administration support and workshops and training with
partners.

 

Requirements:

*    Masters in Marine Science or related discipline specializing in
coral reef environment with at least 3 years relevant experience;

*    Basics understanding of geographic information system (GIS);

*    Ability to digest scientific information and to develop clear
summaries for articles and/or web pages;

*    Ability to working within multicultural teams, in project
implementation, and  the coordination of partners;

*    Established network of main coral reef scientists, managers and
institutions in Malaysia, regional and international;

*    Strong understanding of coral reef monitoring and assessments
methods, coral reef issues and management, database used and operations;

*    Strong ability to develop realistic data entry work plan, conduct
data analysis using appropriate tools and statistical software; and

*    Good verbal and written skills in English language.
