Director, Marine Program, Wildlife Conservation Society

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a Director for its Global
Marine Program, to be based at WCS headquarters in New York City.  The
Director will oversee WCS programs focused on coral reef ecosystem
conservation and science in Belize, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji,
Madagascar, and the broader Western Indian Ocean and will coordinate with
staff overseeing initiatives on marine species.
 
Key responsibilities include: providing support on project development and
implementation; facilitating communication and coordination among and
between programs, both inside and outside of WCS; and raise funds sufficient
to meet program goals.  The Director will promote marine conservation with
national governments, international agencies, and other non-governmental
organizations and influence policies that promote the long-term persistence
of wildlife and wild lands across the world¹s seas and coastal waterways.

Applicants must have: a Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a field related
marine conservation with a strong background in coral reef conservation and
marine protected areas; 5 years minimum of management experience in
international marine conservation programs; excellent interpersonal and
communication skills; significant and diverse fundraising experience. The
position is based at WCS headquarters in New York City, with significant
travel schedule.
