[Coral-List] PhD OPPORTUNITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA

The Marine Symbiosis Laboratory in the Department of Biology at the
University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) is offering two fully
funded PhD fellowships to start from September 2008 and to work in the
areas of 1) Functional Genomics of Cnidarian-Dinoflagellate Symbioses,
and 2) Molecular Ecology of Symbiotic Dinoflagellates.
The Biology Department at ULL consists of about 30 faculty members,
more than 75 graduate students and 7 full-time support staff members
and emphasizes interdisciplinary research in the fields of
Environmental and Evolutionary Biology.
Facilities include the Microscopy Center, well equipped research
laboratories, a nucleic acid analysis facility, aquatic laboratories,
Herbarium, zoological collections, and a shop maintained by a full-
time technician. The new 50-acre Center for Ecology and Environmental
Technology (CEET) located about 6 miles from the main campus provides
additional research opportunities. The LUMCON Marine Laboratory in
Cocodrie, Louisiana provides vehicles and small boats for field
research and large marine research vessels. The National Wetland
Research Center in the UL Lafayette Research Park provides additional
research opportunities. For additional information about the
