[Coral-List] Open Access according to Springer

As a follow up to the recent post on the publication policy of Coral 
Reefs, I would like to add some information on the Open Access policy of 
the publisher, Springer. According to the so-called "Open Choice" 
scheme, authors are requested to pay US$ 3,000 plus VAT (about 20% in 
the EU) plus other standard costs (such as color if it is desired in the 
printed version) to make their article freely accessible to everyone. 
This is a very costly Open Access policy for the authors.
