[Coral-List] Reflections on ICRS 11

I am a little late joining in on the "Reflections on  ICRS 11 parade. 
" As co-chair with Dennis Hubbard of the ,"Lessons from the Past" 
session, I can brag that we stuck to the schedule. I can also say 
after attending the final ceremony that Lessons from the Past was no 
where to be seen or heard. In the future we may consider dropping 
geology from the program and leave it to the biological 
doom-and-gloom and management aspects of coral reefs. On the other 
hand, as Dennis Hubbard pointed out in his editorial in the last 
issue of Reef Encounters, if the coals continue to die then the next 
meeting may very well end up being  entirely devoted to geology. 
Finally, Dick Dodge and all his associates did a monumental job 
pulling this meeting together.  It was right up there with the 
Olympics. Gene
