Dear Coral-list

My colleague Alan Ziegler asked me to post this advert; please respond
to him directly if you are interested.

Cheers,

Peter

PhD student wanted for a study related to the ecology and restoration of
mangrove-sea grass-coral ecosystems in tropical coastal environments in
Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. It is expected that the PhD
dissertation would stem from data collected during ocean- and
mesocosm-based studies of hydrodynamic energy, light availability, and
material/elemental fluxes affecting self-facilitation of
mangrove-seagrass-coral ecosystems. Candidates with the following
skills/interests are encouraged to apply: scuba diving, boat-based data
collection, familiarity with data loggers and automated recording
instruments, GIS/remote sensing, strong science background (physics,
chemistry, biology, and/or marine science), competence in data analysis
techniques and numerical modelling, strong English writing ability, and
good sense of humour. Contact: Dr. Alan D. Ziegler, National University
of Singapore, adz at nus.edu.sg.
