Dear Coral-List,
I'd like to draw your attention to two recent and inter-related studies
on coral resistance to and recovery from bleaching, focused on
Montastraea faveolata from the Mesoamerican Reef.

Carilli J, Norris RD, Black B, Walsh S, McField M. (2009) Local
stressors reduce coral resilience to bleaching. PLoS One 4(7): e6324.

Carilli J, Norris RD, Black B, Walsh S, McField M. (2009) Century-scale
records of coral growth rates indicate that local stressors reduce
coral thermal tolerance threshold. Global Change Biology

Go to link above for "early view," or email me for a pdf of the proof
if you'd like.

Cheers,
Jessica Carilli
