Ph.D. Research Opportunity in Coral Reef Ecology at ZMT Bremen - Germany
The Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT)
(http://www.zmt-bremen.de) in Bremen, Germany seeks a Ph.D. student
interested in conducting research on coral larval ecology, coral
recruitment, coral-algal interactions and algal population dynamics, to
begin between August and October 2009 for a period of three years.
Research will involve field and laboratory experiments with coral larvae
to study the effects of benthic algae on processes of coral recovery,
but is not limited to these issues. Applicants should have a Master's or
Diploma degree in marine biology or marine sciences and be willing to
make long-term stays abroad. Experience in coral reef ecology, marine
botany, tropical fieldwork and scientific diving will be important
assets. Good skills in English are essential. The successful candidate
should have the ability to work in a team and have the willingness to
work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
