The NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program (CRCP) is recruiting for a 
communications and outreach specialist through our contract firm, I.M.. 
Systems Group.  The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the 
CRCP's activities related to both national- and jurisdictional-scale 
outreach and communications efforts.  The position is located at NOAA's 
headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland and is housed within the Coral 
Conservation Division of the National Ocean Service's Office of Ocean 
and Coastal Resource Management.  Additional details can be found at the

I.M. Systems Group (www.imsg.com <http://www.imsg.com/>), a contractor 
to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Silver Spring, 
MD, seeks an individual to serve as a Communications and Outreach 
Specialist to coordinate and promote coral reef program activities.  
This individual will work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric 
Administration's (NOAA's) Coral Reef Conservation Program 
(CRCP-www.coralreef.noaa.gov/ <http://www.coralreef.noaa.gov/>).**

NOAA's CRCP supports effective management and sound science to preserve, 
sustain and restore valuable coral reef ecosystems.  This position is 
with the program's Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management in 
Silver Spring, MD. 

*_Job Duties:_*

·        Oversee all outreach and communication needs to increase the 
visibility of the CRCP;

·        Work both on small teams and independently to develop and 
implement national-level outreach and communication strategies that 
further the mission of the CRCP;

·        Work in concert with partners to develop and implement outreach 
and communication strategies in the seven U.S. coral reef jurisdictions 
focused on placed-based issues;

·        Foster relationships and build new partnerships with other 
government agencies, private groups and not-for-profit organizations to 
leverage information and identify opportunities for collaboration;

·        Create and disseminate outreach materials such as the CRCP's 
Web site, video documentaries, oral and video public service 
announcements, brochures, fact sheets, posters, as well as prepare media 
packets and press releases as needed; and

·        Provide communications support for national programs and events.


*Qualifications:*

·        Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with several years 
experience in a communications and/or outreach capacity.

·        Excellent written and oral communications skills, and at least 
2 years project management experience.

·        Familiarity with a variety of communication strategies and 
methods such as social marketing, outreach campaigns, PSA development, 
written materials/briefings, press releases, Web site development, 
brochure development, layouts, etc.

·        Ability to independently conceptualize, develop, implement, and 
manage multiple simultaneous projects with limited creative direction 
from supervisors.

·        Ability to work on multiple projects and shift priorities as 
needed.

·        Familiarity with coral reef or other natural resource 
management programs and experience work with island jurisdictions is 
highly desirable.
