The Ocean Chemistry Division of NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and
Meteorological Laboratory is seeking two science positions; 1) Division
Director (ZP-IV / ZP-V, GS13-15), and 2) Director of the Florida Area
Coastal Environment (FACE) program (ZP-IV, GS-13). Both positions
require significant research publications in the refereed literature, a
history of success in obtaining funding and conducting research
projects, the ability to organize and to promote research projects, and
international recognition as a leading scientist in the fields of
oceanography or climate research. The Director position requires
capabilities in the management of the science and personnel involved in
various research activities within the Ocean Chemistry Division while
maintaining a strong research effort in an area which complements
current Division activities. The FACE director must assume direction
for a multidiscipline project to study physical, chemical, and
microbiological aspects of coastal southeastern Florida, with emphasis
on anthropogenic impact and ecosystem viability.

NOAA/AOML is part of the US Department of Commerce and is located in
Miami, Florida. AOML's mission is to conduct basic and applied research
in oceanography, tropical meteorology, and atmospheric and oceanic
chemistry. This research seeks to understand the physical
characteristics and processes of the ocean and the atmosphere, both
separately and as a coupled system. The research emphasis of OCD is to
study the chemistry and microbiology of coastal and deep-water marine
systems including nutrients, corals carbon chemistry, and coastal
ecosystems.
