2010 Marine Science Internships
2010 OFFICE ADMINISTRATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
LOCATION: Lee Stocking Island, Exuma, Bahamas
DURATION: 3-6 months (3 month minimum commitment)
STARTING DATE: Year round
OPEN TO: Individuals with education and work experience in business
administration, accounting/finance, and/or hospitality
DESCRIPTION: Volunteers will work directly with management staff in
supporting day-to-day office administration, operations and hospitality
services at an international marine research center on Lee Stocking Island
in the Bahamas. Volunteers will gain valuable work experience related to
standard operating procedures, accounting and financial management,
inventory and scheduling, and visitor services support. Volunteers will also
have an opportunity to interact with marine scientists, local business
officials, and other local community members.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with excellent
computer and data entry skills including work with spreadsheets and
databases. First aid/CPR certification is required prior to arrival on Lee
Stocking Island.
Also preferred: experience with Quickbooks or related accounting software.
Boating experience also a plus.
