[Coral-List] Colombian National Day of the Reef

Fundación ICRI Colombia en Pro de los Arrecifes Coralinos have completed the First Colombian Training for Scuba Dive Operators in Capurgana. It was successfully held from the 29 of November till the 4th of December during the celebration of the Colombian National Day of the Reef. 25 participants attended to the theory of the TNC training.  All the TNC modules about reef resilience and design of protected area, were taught in 2 days with practical emphasis in the local case study in three days diving at the reefs  with the local scuba dive operators in Capurgana, Caribe Colombia, the only coral reef area in the Caribbean that is not protected by the government.. Meetings with fishermen were interesting to find out why two illegal fisheries are still in practice in their area and how may be possible to manage the natural resources in a social acceptable manner. 
 
Delicious Lion Fish fillets from 60 fishes (caugth in 6 dives by Arturo Acero Professor from Universidad Nacional and Ricardo Betancur)where prepared in a gourmet dish by a cheff of the Hotel Tacarcuna a local hotel. This recipe was tasted by  120 students from a local school and they as well as their teachers liked a lot the flavor of the lion fish which is very abundant in that area. This campaign was held to enhance the fisherie sof lion fish since local fishermen were scared of the external poison of the lion fish and did not want to catch them.
