Hi Ruth,

I routinely take image grabs from benthic video where stills are not available. There is a wide range of software available where this is possible, although the output can be variable in quality. If you are not taking screen grabs from set points (i.e. you want to choose when to take a screen grab), then free software such as VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) provides suitable quality screen grabs for further image analysis - though this software does require that you review the video and choose when to take an image grab. Obviously, the quality of the end image is dependent on the quality of video (e.g. system used, lighting, etc).
