Job Announcement – Project Manager – Flower Garden Banks NMS Long Term Monitoring

The Flower Garden Banks is recruiting a qualified candidate to coordinate the collection of long term monitoring data for the East and West Flower Garden Banks and Stetson Bank, and to perform subsequent analysis, data management, interpretation, synthesis, and report writing of long term monitoring reports and presentations.
This is a full time position, located in Galveston, Texas.
The East and West Flower Garden Banks are located approximately 100 miles south of the Texas/Louisiana border, in the Gulf of Mexico. Stetson Bank is located approximately 30 miles NW of the West FGB. For more information about the site, visit: http://flowergarden.noaa.gov.
Candidates will be assessed on the following criteria:
1. Ability to SCUBA dive and use underwater camera systems.
2. Knowledge of field operations from ship based platforms using SCUBA and ROV's, including organization of personnel & equipment for multi-day, multi-disciplinary offshore research cruise missions to collect oceanographic and biological data.
3. Knowledge of coral reef ecosystems, including fish and coral identification.
4. Skill in spatial and statistical analysis specific for assessment of coral reef ecosystems, database development, organization, and maintenance.
5. Specific knowledge in the use and application of ESRI software packages including ArcView ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst and 3-D Analyst
6. Skill in oral and written communication of technical and scientific information to a variety of audiences.
7. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint, IPhoto, IMovie, IDVD, or equivalent graphics and video programs.
