*Marine Scientist*

* **Healthy Reefs Initiative*

The *Healthy Reefs for Healthy People (HRI) *is an international initiative
of more than 30 local, national and international NGOs and academic
institutions working together to improve conservation of the Mesoamerican
Reef Ecosystem (MAR). HRI generates user-friendly tools to measure reef
health and delivers scientifically credible reports to improve
decision-making that effectively sustains socio-economic and ecosystem
well-being. The core product of the Initiative is a biennial *Report Card *on
the health of the MAR. Report Cards are widely disseminated and serve as a
call to action within the region to stimulate enhanced management responses..
In 2011, HRI is expanding the product range to include an *Eco-Audit* of
management actions to complement the natural resource focus of the Report
Card.

To respond to the growing role HRI plays in the region, we are expanding our
team to include a new marine scientist position that will serve as the
Principal Investigator for the 2012 (and subsequent) biennial Report Cards.
The marine scientist will report to the HRI Director and work closely with
HRI National Coordinators in Mexico and Honduras, and partners to complete
the 2011 field monitoring season, carry out data analysis and lead the
preparation of the 2012 Report Card. Currently, HRI is headquartered in
Belize City, Belize (two staff), with satellite presence in Playa del
Carmen, Mexico (one staff) and Roatan Island, Honduras (one staff).
