Habib,
The Shark Con has apparently won accolades from some
and condemnation from others here in the US as well as
internationally. Perhaps another illustration of the fact that
there is a constituency to support most any perspective and
today’s media is geared to promote controversy. Opinions are
polarized on this issue like so many others and data can be
skewed or at least challenged to raise doubts. How one views
issues like shark finning, shark diving expeditions and shark
fishing can obviously be affected by our individual predisposition
and /or personal interests. Not much different from biases that
come into play when we formulate our views on climate change,
off shore oil drilling or any number of political issues.

I haven’t seen this particular film, so I can’t really comment on
specific content, but then again I gravitate more towards it's
antithesis, the documentary Sharkwater. http://www.sharkwater.com/

It is also interesting to note that each was won awards from various
film festivals which reinforces the concept that each honor reflects
a distinct and divergent agenda.

Regards,
  Steve
