Postdoctoral Research Associate
Marine Benthic Ecology and Ecological Fluid Mechanics
The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate starting July 1, 2012.  The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates investigating the influence of water flow on physiology, behavior, and ecology of marine organisms.
The postdoctoral associate will conduct field and laboratory research related to one or more major themes: suspension feeder ecology, recruitment and larval behavior, olfaction.  In addition, the individual will contribute to the day to day functioning of the lab, publish research results in peer reviewed journals, write grants to support research, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Marine Biology, Marine Science or a related discipline with experience in the appropriate discipline.  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), experience in field and laboratory methods, familiarity with acoustic and laser based velocimeters, and a record of publication.
