> Please consider submitting abstracts for this mini-symposium, which focusses on management applications of resilience concepts, and the role of monitoring and resilience-based science in management. As an outcome of the session we'd like to build further collaborations to improve the use of resilience concepts in management, and the research and monitoring that will contribute to this. We will also coordinate with other relevant mini-symposia to maximize benefits from the sessions.

> The formal abstract for the session is:

> Understanding the resilience of systems to climate change and other local to global human threats will be essential to helping them cope with inevitable change and minimize losses of biodiversity and ecosystem services. This session will explore recent advances in our understanding of ecological and spatial aspects of coral reef resilience, decision-making tools and practical applications to coral reef conservation and management, in three areas:
> 1. Resilience science and monitoring - new knowledge, what can and should be measured, how and why?
> 2. Resilience for decision-making - MPA design, marine spatial planning and novel integrated assessments;
> 3. Building resilience into management – sharing of experiences, day-to-day, institutional and policy aspects of managing for resilience.
>
> Participants in the mini-symposium will build an agenda for follow-up research, action and new partnerships.
