Hi All,

I am seeking a part-time (average ~1 day/week over coming year(s)) research
assistant to aid with several funded coral reef research and conservation
projects. 10-15 hours a week of availability in May and June is required.

Specific tasks will include: database development and management,
statistics, GIS, creating graphs and other figures, writing, co-managing
blogs and using other social media, preparing references, and helping
submit articles. The most competitive applicants will be very competent
with most of the following software: MS Access and Excel, Dreamweaver,
ArcGIS, Google Earth, Photoshop, Illustrator, Matlab, SPSS or Statistica or
SigmaPlot or R, and Endnote.

This position and opportunity would be best suited to a highly motivated
PhD student interested in applied science and environmental conservation.
There will be opportunities to co-author publications and travel to North
Carolina and potentially parts of the Pacific and SE Asia. To apply,
please send a cover letter, CV with contact details for 2 referees, and a
writing sample (like a published paper or a Honors or Masters thesis).
Within the cover letter, describe your skills and interests, and how you
see this opportunity helping you achieve your career goals. Skills in
analysing and presenting data are critical so please be sure to describe
your quantitative skills. The closing date is Wednesday, May 2nd.

Contact me via email with any questions.

Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested!

Thanks,

Jeff Maynard
