JIMAR CORAL REEF/MARINE DEBRIS FIELD TECHNICIAN – ID# 12020. School of
Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Joint Institute for Marine
and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR). (12) Regular, Full-Time, approximately
four to six (4-6) months in duration, RCUH Non-Civil Service positions with
School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Joint
Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR), located at the
National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Pacific Islands Fisheries Science
Center (PIFSC) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent
upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability
of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MINIMUM
MONTHLY SALARY: $2,320/Mon. DUTIES: Assists with preparing for and
participates in field research and marine debris removal activities.
 Prepares, maintains, and troubleshoots research equipment including scuba
diving gear, small boats and motors, digital video cameras, and other
scientific equipment needed for field operations. Conducts underwater
diving and snorkel surveys to assess, monitor, and mitigate threats to
coral reef ecosystems of the U.S. Pacific Islands. Participates in marine
debris removal activities in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Assists
with processing marine debris and other data and preparing summary reports.
Incumbents will have SCUBA Diving responsibilities and are required to pass
post-offer National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Dive
Certification requirements and dive physical. Closing Date: February 3,
