In the International Coral Reef Symposium, in Cairns, Australia, which
just concluded, it was announced that so far 2500 people working on coral
reefs have signed the consensus statement on climate change and coral
reefs. A story about it has appeared on Science Insider at:
http://news.sciencemag.org/scienceinsider/2012/07/coral-reef-scientists-issue-call.html?ref=em

You can read and if you support it, sign it, here:
http://www.icrs2012.com/Consensus_Statement.htm

There are over 6000 people who read coral-list, worldwide. If people pitch
in and sign, we should be able to increase the number of signatures to a
lot more than 2500. This is a chance to get more international attention
for the threats to coral reefs, and maybe even support some action. The
statement endorses both local actions and global actions. Please consider
signing
..
   Many thanks, Douglas Fenner, Ph.D.
