Hi,
OceansWatch is looking for up to 6 recent marine science and sustainable development graduates for our 2012 projects in Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
These are volunteer positions and participants are expected to donate NZ$200pw to cover their food and to make a contribution towards our expenses. We are NOT a “gap-year” program but do have very limited resources.
We depart New Zealand or Australia on small yachts in April or early May and shall be away at least 6 months.
We follow a bottom up approach to help communities develop sustainable management plans for their marine resources in the face of climate change and assist in sustainable development initiatives.
We have an exciting program this year that includes a large Marine Managed Area and network of no-take MPA’s in the Solomon Islands. We shall also be running an interesting project to map an atoll freshwater lens.
