Fisheries or Marine Biologist Assistant/Associate Professor
The department of Marine Science and Fisheries is pleased to invite applications for vacancy at the Assistant / Associate Professor rank in the area of Fisheries/ Marine Biology to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. Candidates are expected to have a good research background in order to take the leadership for developing graduate level programs and cooperative research programs with faculty in the department, collaboratively with other sister departments, Ministries and their extension offices and should have the demonstrated ability to attract external research funds. The deadline for application is 1st December 2012 but the position will remain open until filled.
Develop and teach courses in Marine or Fisheries Biology including introductory courses, Ichthyology and Marine Vertebrate Zoology.
Supervise undergraduate and post-graduate students.
Develop a research program in applied Marine and Fisheries Biology inclusive of major exploited species in Oman. The candidate is expected to work as part of an inter-disciplinary research team and to conduct joint research in his/her field.
Provide community service to fishers, the general public and the official institutions through public presentations, field demonstrations, technical training, extension and workshops.
Ph..D. in Marine Biology or Fisheries Biology.
An established record of successful grant applications and peer-reviewed research publications.
Extensive experience in teaching, particularly developing courses and supervising students.
