Two Consultancies Available: (open April 13, 2013 – close April 30,
2013)

Consultancy #1
(possibilities of continuation/expansion of consultancy)

Length of Consultancy (estimated):

18 days: 2 days of travel; 6 days in the field; 10 days of analysis and
report writing (at home location)

Responsibilities:
•       Survey the target Caribbean coral reef habitat
•       Undertake a complete bioinventory of coral reef habitats at the
target site and provide a list of all species observed providing common
English, and scientific names and whether the species observed are
endemic or introduced (invasive)
•       Develop spatially accurate characterization maps of the target coral
reef habitats at a scale of 1:20,000
•       Determine the overall health of the coral reef ecosystem including
the presence of any diseases
•       Provide a written report of findings within one month of end of
consultancy

Qualifications:
•       Expert in Caribbean coral reef ecology and habitat analysis
•       Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.), or equivalent experience, in
Marine Biology, Coral Reef Ecology or similar field
•       Proficient in Scuba/scientific diving
•       Demonstrated written scientific communication skills (report writing)
•       Able to work effectively in a remote area
•       Experience with spatial analysis of coral reef survey data
•       Knowledge of ecology, marine science, oceanography, and/or a related
field

This activity will take place in Haiti and the contractor will provide
local transport (vehicle and boat), lodging, meals, scuba tanks and
weights.

habitats at the target site and provide a list of all species observed
