The Ocean Health Index rates the world's oceans 78 out of 100 on Clean
Water.  What's behind that score, and what's keeping us from being
sustainable (scoring 100)?  Steve Katona, Managing Director of the Index,
explains that the roadblock (among other pollutants)--is made of plastic.

   PLASTIC WASTE WORTH US$8 BILLION A YEAR?

Instead of looking at packaging as a waste stream, why not find ways to
turn it into a revenue stream?  Doug Woodring of Ocean Recovery Alliance is
pushing a plan for turning plastic waste into real money.

SPOTLIGHT ON OCEAN RECOVERY ALLIANCE

Can we get rid of plastic?  The Ocean Recovery Alliance launched the
Plasticity Forum at the Rio+20 Earth Summit last year in order to stimulate
solutions to our plastic glut. The next event will be at the Economist
World Oceans Summit in Hong Kong on June 6, 2013.
