Marine Biology***

The Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology <http://www.hawaii.edu/himb/> at
the University of Hawai‘i invites applications for a full-time, 11-mos,
tenure-track research faculty position in coral reef biogeochemistry at the
rank of Assistant Researcher.  HIMB is part of the School of Ocean and
Earth Science and Technology <http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/> (SOEST) at
the University
of Hawai‘i at Mānoa <http://manoa.hawaii.edu/>.  The successful candidate
will be expected to develop extramurally funded research programs and to
mentor graduate students.  The level of State support will be equivalent to
nine (9) months per year, with the other two (2) months to be raised
through extramural funds.  ****

We seek applicants who will build a strong research program that
complements the expertise of our existing faculty.  Areas of interest
include, but are not limited to, reef metabolism, ocean acidification,
coastal nutrient cycling, and land-sea interactions.  It is essential that
applicants have a strong field component to their research to take
advantage of HIMB’s unique location. Individual qualifications and academic
excellence, rather than specific research area, will be the most important
criteria in selecting the successful candidate.  Minimum qualifications: a
PhD in oceanography, biogeochemistry, ecosystem ecology, or related
biological discipline and a demonstrated capability for creative,
high-quality research.  ****
