[Coral-List] Postdoctoral Position: Ecology of coralline algae

Dear all,

A junior postdoctoral position is available for coralline algae research in
the ‘Coral Reef Algae Research Lab’ at Griffith University (Brisbane,
Australia). The lab is interested in physiological, biogeochemical,
ecological, and conservation questions related to tropical marine algae and
coral reefs.

The position is within a grant funded project that focuses on assessing the
responses of coralline algae to ocean acidification and warming and aims at
determining whether coralline algae can be used to track the impacts of
climate change in the Great Barrier Reef.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of research
activities, including a quantitative literature review on the topic, and
planning and executing lab and field experiments to investigate aspects of
the physiology and ecology of coralline algae. Ability to prepare accurate
reports and high quality publications is essential.

The applicant will have a PhD in the area of marine phycology or coral reef
ecology, and must hold a Scientific or Commercial Diving Certificate. The
person must be prepared to spend time in remote research stations in the
Great Barrier Reef.

Details of the position:

*Work type:* Fixed term, 11 months (with potential for 2 additional years
depending upon performance and funding availability).

*Start date:* The position is available immediately and applications will
be accepted until the position is filled.

*Salary:*  A$ 71,655 (Research Fellow, Grade 1, within 1-2 yrs of PhD
completion). Salary package includes additional 17% employer superannuation
contribution.
