The College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, the national University of the Sultanate of Oman, provides a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, research and extension activities. Assistant Professor / Associate Professor in Oceanography
The Department of Marine Science and Fisheries, College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences, seeks to expand its vibrant and interdisciplinary approach to research and education in marine sciences. We seek applications from outstanding candidates to teach and conduct extramurally funded interdisciplinary research in the field of Biological, Chemical, and/or Physical Oceanography (position MSF1).Requirements: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and some working experience by the start of screening. We seek highly motivated candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student advising and research in their field of expertise. Significant experience and excellence in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels would be a distinct advantage. An established record of successful grant applications and peer-reviewed research publications is required. A keen interest in relating to complementary research within the Department (http://omansea.org) is critically important.Duties: The appointee would be expected to: 1) teach and develop variety of courses related to his/her specialty, as well as more general courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 2) attract and supervise students at MSc and PhD level; 3) develop their own research program and work as part of an inter-disciplinary research team; 4) provide community service to the general public and the Governmental institutions.Review of applications will begin immediately.
