The Biological Sciences Department in the College of Science and
Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is
seeking a full-time, academic year, tenure track Biological Oceanographer
beginning September 2016.

The successful candidate will collaborate with members of Cal Poly's
multidisciplinary Center for Coastal Marine Sciences (CCMS). Preferred
candidate will have research expertise in nearshore biological oceanography
and possible sub-discipline interests in: plankton biology,microbial
biology, biological applications of remote sensing, or ecological and
biogeochemical modeling. Candidates must have a strong commitment to
undergraduate teaching across the curriculum and must implement a
student-centered research program. Teaching responsibilities will include
Biological Oceanography, Ocean Sampling Methods and upper or lower-division
courses as appropriate to training. The ability to seek external funding to
enhance the use of the CCMS Pier facility and vessels is highly desirable.
Postdoctoral experience is preferred. A Ph.D. in a relevant field and
evidence of excellent teaching is required at time of hiring. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
