ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies
James Cook University Townsville

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, headquartered at James Cook University, and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) are global leaders in coral reef research and have common interests in research that promotes the future sustainability of coral reefs. As part of this collaboration, we are seeking to fill one joint postdoctoral position working with leading researchers at both the ARC Centre and AIMS.

The position provides the opportunity for an exceptional candidate to pursue research in one of two prioritised areas; the transgenerational acclimatisation and adaptation of coral reef organisms to climate warming and ocean acidification, or, calcification of keystone coral reef species in a changing ocean. The joint appointment will provide the candidate with the freedom to develop a research program linked to the broad objectives of the position that suits their interests and expertise. The successful candidate will work with either Dr Madeleine van Oppen and Prof Philip Munday or Prof Morgan Pratchett and Dr Janice Lough in Townsville.

Applicants must possess a PhD in a relevant area, and have a strong publication record. The successful applicant must have demonstrated the ability to conduct and publish research independently and as part of a team.

Employment Type: Appointment will be full-time for a fixed term of three years.

Salary: Academic Level A - $A75,353 - $A80,635 per annum; Academic Level B - $A84,700 - $A99,942 per annum.
