   - Please forgive for Cross-Posting -
   Dear All,
During the last Conference of the Parties of the SPAW Protocol in Cartagena,
Colombia, december 2014, the following recommandation was made by the
Contracting Parties about the brown algae (Sargassum):
'' support more research on origins, impacts and ways to control the brown
algae, as well as to improve the development of models in response to the
increasing incidence of such events which affecting the marine environment,
biodiversity and health in the region. ''
Several countries in the Caribbean, Contracting Parties of SPAW, have
expressed their wish to mobilize on this topic, and in particular France and
   Colombia.
Before going further, the SPAW RAC for the SPAW Secretariat would like to
know what initiatives already exist in the region on brown algae drifts and
   associated disturbances.
Therefore, we would be very grateful if you could send to the SPAW-RAC
([1]julie.belmont.carspaw at guadeloupe-parcnational.fr) any information you
may have on the subject (contacts, papers, links..).
   Thanks a lot in advance,
   Best regards,
