Hi all,

Registration is now open for the 6th YOUMARES conference that will be held
in *Bremen*, *Germany *on *Sept. 16-18th 2015*. Keeping in spirit with the
conference's theme, *young/early career researchers and students (BSc, MSc,
PhD) are especially encouraged to participate.*

We welcome contributions to* Session 10: “*Recent approaches in coral reef
research: traditional and novel applications towards building resilience.”


Abstract:
"Coral reefs are experiencing an unprecedented global decline due to a
range of anthropogenic stressors. To slow this trend, better understanding
of underlying mechanisms behind reef degradation is required. Recent
efforts emphasize the importance of targeting different levels of
biological organization and using innovative applications by complementing
traditional ecological approaches with techniques from other disciplines
(physiology, biogeochemistry, or microbiology). These efforts will also
lead to better insights into the complex interactions that build the
resilience of the reef ecosystem. This will allow for assessing the chances
of reef restoration, as a countermeasure to the die back of reefs.

We therefore encourage contributions from all disciplines, highlighting the
importance of an in-depth understanding of reef organisms and ecosystem
processes. We particularly welcome contributions on the implications of
anthropogenically-driven environmental change for coral reef functioning,
which will be essential for development and implementation of meaningful
management actions."
