[Coral-List] Florida Key temperature records for 2006 and 2007

The SST for the Keys are interesting. The data are from satellite data 
that  estimates water temperature from the top millimeter or so rather 
than down in the water below the surface where corals actually live. It 
would be interesting to compare these data with the data recorded by 30 
recording thermographs that were deployed by NOAA on the bottom next to 
corals throughout the Florida Keys reef areas from approximately 
1990-2007 when that program was halted. I recall that shore corals were 
killed by low water temperature during a cold front in 2010. That event 
is not apparent in the satellite data. It would be interesting to see a 
comparison of high temperatures  measured satellite compares with actual 
water temperatures recorded on the reef tract. Gene
